Why Academic Editing or Science Editing?

Through all my years a college and university it frustrated me that all the Writing Center help available was provided by people who knew nothing of the subject of my writing. While they tried, their lack of scientific background severely limited the help they could offer.

While this was rarely an issue for me, due to extensive prior experience with formal and academic writing, it bothered me to see such a lack. Particularly in a field with such a high rate of non-native speakers or those who, while obviously intelligent, have limited experience with formal writing beyond high school or college.

So I offer my experience to help others edit or revise scholarly documents–journal articles, books, and such. I wanted to help scholars save time, reduce their workload, and get published faster.

I strongly believe that the quality of one’s writing should not be a barrier to Publishing. As a physical chemist myself, I strive to remove extra-scientific requirements—like writing experience, English fluency, or hours spent on formatting—as barriers to publishing in high-impact scientific journals.

The ability to publish your work in the appropriate Journal should depend solely on the quality and significance of your research, not how well you can convey your work as a compelling story nor how well one can follow (often arbitrary) formatting rules.
